 Trump told Tucker Carlson to tone down Israel rhetoric: report

WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump has urged former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to tone down the rhetoric on Israel, according to reports.

As the right becomes more divided on the topic of Israel, Trump has reportedly asked Carlson to “turn down the temperature,” former Fox Business anchor Melissa Francis said.

“Everybody’s looking for a way to turn down the temperature,” Francis said, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“President Trump is telling everyone, including Tucker, ‘Let’s take this down.’”

On his podcast, Carlson has had on guests that have been critical of Israel and he has been very outspoken against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

.Last year, Carlson was on popular podcast host Theo Von’s podcast where he called Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich the “enemy” of civilization.

Other Republicans critical of Israel have been former Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie.

The war in Gaza began on Oct. 7, 2023 when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel and killed 1,200 people and took many hostage. Hundreds of thousands of civilians in Gaza have been killed since the war began, with many of them being children.

According to a report published earlier this year, a poll shows that 23% of Republicans between the age of 18 to 44 believe that the United States should increase support for Israel.
